Review: Lola and The Boy Next Door Stephanie Perkins

Lola and The Boy Next Door
Author: Stephanie Perkins
Series: Single Title
Publisher: Dutton
Pages: 338
R. Date: September 29,2011

Summary (Goodreads)
Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Review:
Wow! I am speechless. I thought you couldn't get better than Anna. Well guess what I change my mind, Lola is amazing.

This book is one of those "girlier" YA's I occasionally read. I felt like such a girl when I read this book -- I was laughing and I was shocked and had a little freak out when I saw Anna and St. Claire. OMG! I mean I did not expect them to be in this one at All!

But Wait than there was cricket the sweet, smart, innocent boy that had moved in next door again after his sister switched coaches again. I really no words for Cricket. Every time I think of cricket my inner teen girl comes out and screams HOT! SMART! OMG! Yeah, a little freaky, but everyone has their moments and their fan-boys and He is def. one of mine now.

Now Max was the complete opposite than Cricket I mean he had tattoos was in a band, and was led you on kind of guy.I really wanted to jump inside this book and scream dump him already. Yeah, he was supposably a "good guy" but wasn't buying it at all. Wow, what about Lindsay I mean you can't leave her out. She was the kind of girl I might hang out with .She was smart, a dependable friend, and never turned her back on Lola. Now speaking of Lola, wow what can you say about Lola the minute I started reading I knew she was a little on the "theater" appearance side with the costumes. Sometimes I had to actually stop and look for who these people were and what something was for this dress she was making, but overall she was a fun person.

Now, this book may have topped Anna. Then, again there is 2 different things going on in Anna and Lola it's hard to compare. Where Anna was the new girl making friends trying to fit in and you wind up with this romantic twist on the story. Whereas Lola was very romantic I want to say from the start and is about friendship and a lot more about boys and learning to deal with things. Either way I love them both.!

If you haven't checked out these amazing books by Stephanie Perkins you really should. Anna and the French Kiss & Lola and the Boy Next Door.

Review : Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Daughter of Smoke & Bone
Author: Laini Taylor
Pages:418
Publisher: Little Brown
Relase Date: September 27,2011

GoodReads Summary :

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.
And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherworldly war.
Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages—not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.
When one of the strangers—beautiful, haunted Akiva—fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

                                   Review :

I went into the Daughter of Smoke and Bone with very open mind from what people were saying. I started to read and I was like wow this is kind of normal-ish. She went to school, was an artist, had a ex-boyfriend who kind of stalked her and oh she had blue hair and some other strange things not so normal, but kind of awesome at the same time. Those book bloggers who said this book was amazing, book of the century, unlike any other book you’ve read you’re so right!
Let’s talk about our main character here Karou. Karou was … kind of awesome I mean she had BLUE hair! Who doesn’t want blue hair? Lol ok I don’t, but it’s still cool. Am I right? Then, she was also this amazing freaking artist, who drew these sketch books with these creatures that have like mixed animal and body parts and crazy crap like that and everyone thought they were fake and then they turn out to be real! What in the world. Then again if she didn’t have these “creatures” what kind of story this be because last time I checked they made the whole story since it kind of revolved around them.
Karou also had this very.. Unique friend who was completely clueless about everything her friend was doing. I mean she knew something was up because Karou kept ditching her whenever this bird( though she never saw it ) came knocking at the window or doing whatever to get her attention so she could go do something for Brimstone. Leaving on that note there was Brimstone   who in the heck collects teeth. Uh gross I mean I know that’s being maybe a little girly, but it’s kind of weird. Know on to Akiva OMG this gave the story that dash of Romanic it needed straight up. I mean who wouldn’t want to have that dash? (So I don’t spoil anything I’m going to leave it at that)
From what I've read this book will not disappoint you. It's an amazing, thrilling Ya novel about angels, and these devil like creatures. How much better can it get!? This story will leave you wondering what the heck is going on till the very end!

Review: Bite Club Rachel Caine

                                                            Bite Club by Rachel Caine

Series: Morganville Vampires
Pages:340
Publisher: NAL
Release Date:May 3rd, 2011

Summary:
After discovering that vampires populate her town, college student Claire Danvers knows that the undead just want to live their lives. But someone else wants them to get ready to rumble.
There's a new extreme sport getting picked up on the Internet: bare- knuckle fights pitting captured vampires against each other-or humans. Tracking the remote signal leads Claire- accompanied by her friends and frenemies-to discover that what started as an online brawl will soon threaten everyone in Morganville...

My Review:

“Welcome to Morganville,” as they say in the beginning. Let me tell you they are so right! Welcome to my review of this very intriguing, dark at times, & very interesting story. There is always something new in this book. To tell you the truth If I didn’t know that there is 2 more books after this I would tell you I hope they never end. This series has had my attention for ten novels! (And more to come)That’s the longest time I’ve spent reading one series that kept my full attention and didn’t make me wander off to another book because it was the same boring thing.
The story and the characters never get old. Rachel creates these characters and gives you so much detail that I never have to second guess my self and say is this really what they look like or change my image of the character.
Also, she creates this …feel that you as a reader can feel when something is going on with these characters especially Claire and Shane. God, Claire and Shane how much I love them. They have this strong tense, Sweet relationship that never gets boring because some new conflict happens.
I don’t want to get too much into detail about this particular plot since it is the 10th in the series and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it so therefore I am going to stop my babbling and sum it up this short review (Sorry).I wouldn’t change a thing. Ok, sometimes I do want to jump and to this book and slap someone, but I want to do that a lot when I get mad at someone, but overall I wouldn’t change a thing.
If you haven’t read this series you really should! It’s an amazing plot\page turning series & leaves you hooked every time. If you want to find out why I am babbling on so many good things about this book check it out I encourage you I really do. Well, I hope to see you in Morganville… Oh and If your new “Welcome to Morganville “You won’t be sorry.

Review: Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday

Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday
Pages:  320
Series: Deadly Cool #1
Publisher: Harper Teen
Realse Date: October 11,2011

Summary:
Hartley Grace Featherstone is having a very bad day. First she finds out that her boyfriend is cheating on her with the president of the Herbert Hoover High School Chastity Club. Then he's pegged as the #1 suspect in a murder. And if that weren't enough, now he's depending on Hartley to clear his name. Seriously? Not cool.
But as much as Hartley wouldn't mind seeing him squirm, she knows he's innocent, and she's the only one who can help him. Along with her best friend, Sam, and the school's resident Bad Boy, Chase, Hartley starts investigating on her own. But as the dead bodies begin to pile up, the mystery deepens, the suspects multiply, and Hartley begins to fear that she may be the killer's next victim.

Review:

Phenomenal! Yes, I used the world phenomenal to describe this book because it really is.Deadly cool takes you on a thrilling mystery through out the pages. You are left guessing who did it and honestly I did NOT see the ending coming. It was the last person I would have expected to do that.Maybe it was just me who was thrown off,but I really didn't guess this person. Than again, you know what they say the one you least expect is the one who always does it.

Now on to Harley, first of all what a cool name. (Hartly Grace Featherstone)Now second,(After all that randomness)she was being exactly what she thought she was being a "Nancy Drew" but it's ok because I liked it;She was on a misson to solve this case and lettme tell you see cracked it wide open taking a lot of risk and going to extreme measures to see that her ex-boyfriend, Josh was innocent. There were moments when she was unsure of her feelings for Josh and I'm glad she stayed strong because Josh was a jerk. I mean he cheated on her and than she's trying to help him and he's being a jerk. She pushed through it though because she knew the real killer was still out there and if she didn't stop this person who will.Getting off of Josh,I really liked Chase.Chase is a mysterious, bad boy who is also a writer, who wouldn't like him.Oh, and did I forget to mention he's supposed to be hot.
There was some romance, but nothing serious the book stayed on the topic of finding the killer and I loved it.

It had that dash of romance and even some laughter to make it perfect.
Overall loved this book! Gemma did an amazing job on explaning characters, and the scene it had me wanting to read more and guessing until the last page. You can deffintley count me in for the next thrilling mystery of this series! Can't wait to see somemore Chase,Hartley, and we can't leave out sam.

But even if they defeat Bishop, will the vampires ever be content to go back to the old rules, after having such a taste of power?

Review:
So, I have been reading this series on and off since summer, but I found myself way to lazy
to do a review. Which I get upset about sometimes, but I'm going to put the pedal to the metal and finally do one on one book of this series. It just so happens to be this one since i've read it quite recently;Meaning yesterday.

Not going to lie I was a bit confused when I starting reading since I completely forgot what happened in the last book due to reading a  lot of other books since the fifth one in the series.I didn't start to remember until about 40 pages in, but once I did let me tell ya I was supper excited in what was going to happen next and raced through this book less than a day.I found myself asking questions while reading, I was wonderstruck no other word to explain it. Which made the sweet moments in this book the best it could have been. Than, there was the a part, well a couple actually in this book that were so long anticipated that i was thinking awe or wow holly crap. The plot was well written and suspenseful as the plans started to fall into place,as friendships and relationships were tested and loyalties were put to the test it came down to how far you would go and what you would do to
to save not only your life , but friends and family and the innocent people of Morganville if after all you were only just turning 17.

Welcome to this intriguing thriller of a paranormal  town called Morganville. Were no Morganville native dares to come outside past sunset after all  the dark and dangerous things come out in Morganville at night.
If you have yet to read this book you should probably check it out. Well, go on and check it out so you to can enter into the exciting world of Morganville. There's no place like here.

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare Review

City Of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Series : The Mortal Instruments Series
Pages:462
Publisher: Simon & Shuster
Realse Date: March 25, 2008

Summary :
Sixteen year old Clary continues trying to make sense of the swiftly changing events and relationships in her life as she becomes further involved with the shadowhunters and their pursuit of demons and discovers some terrifying truth about her parents, her brother Jace, and her boyfriend Simon.

Review:

If you thought the first one was action packed wait till you read this one. With this book full of Demons,Warlocks,Faeries, Shadowhunters,Vampires, andwerewolfs you can't go wrong. This is the ultimate
ya series I have come across so far. With such an amazing plot twister that had me on the edge of my seat wanting more.

When I was reading every page had me turning to the
next to find out what the heck was going on wiether it was Family issues, The Clave issues, or just a
regular conversation I knew something was bound to happen as soon as I put the book down or went to the
next page I just couldn't stop reading.

I found myself doing the worst thing a student can do
not paying attention in class because the suspense was killing me.

Than, you had again what I'm going to call " Family Issues" with Jace, Clary and their dad. There was some confusion of  feelings after finding out that that's her brother.I don't want to spoil it for other bloggers\ Readers who haven't read so that's the most i'm going to say about that issue\ event in the story. This book had such an amazing thrilling, action packed twisting plot I mean how much  better than this can it get.

Well, I sure hope the third book lives up to its expectations of being better and more plot twisting than this one.AGAIN,! if you haven't read this series you totally should. If you like a good paranormal suspense killer action packed Ya Book than read this series!

Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Date Published : March 27, 2007

   Review:
I am not going to come up with an intro this time I am simply going to dive into this book review! This book was amazing. I know I use the word amazing a lot to describe books, but there was no other word for this book.

This book was action packed and I loved those parts. I found myself sneaking to the next couple of pages just reading dialogues and then stopping myself because I had to read the page in front of me.
Honestly, I’ve heard so much about this book and put of reading it and I have no reason why because this book is currently and will be for a while my favorite book now. There is no words to describe this book it had me glued to my seat. I was amazed to see that it only took me 2 days to read this big 485 page books, but it went by so fast because I was enjoying it so much.

Clary, Oh gosh what can I say about her, but she is someone I can relate to so much because we are somewhat alike. Jace, the hot boy that I fantasize about being with someone like that. The budding relationship between them was too cute and then the shocker at the end. Then, there was Alec , with his sarcasticness was funny at times, but actually rude, but I still liked him.

This book had everything! I mean straight down to the werewolf and vampires. This book to me is the ultimate Ya book you can read. If you haven’t read it you totally should.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman : Review

Title: If I stay
Author: Gayle Forman
Publisher: Speak
Pages: 259
Series: If I stay #1
Published:April 6,2010

Summary:

In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces - to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make

Review:
I just finished reading this book a couple of hours ago and I am still trying to contemplate what happened in this book. I am still not sure how I feel about this book. While lots of people said it was very sad , to keep Kleenex by ,I did get teary eyed when it came to the crash, but other than that I just felt a little sad. I felt somewhat disconnected from this book, but my connection with this book was strong when it came to the music. Seeing, I am a big music person; I play a couple of instruments myself and I found it was rather interesting to read about her playing music and to talk about music in general.

Now to the characters, I loved Kim what was not to like about her. Even though she wasn’t there most of the story just in little flashbacks and when she came to the hospital I loved her personality. Kim and Mia were like 2 peas and a pod. Mia was a great main character. I really got her and her family with the music. I loved how she was really talented with an also talented boyfriend who also plays music. It seemed like the perfect match her and Adam. Teddy, what can I say Teddy  he was the sweet, but fun and funny at times little brother. I loved him can’t say anything else about him. Adam, like I said perfect match for Mia, he stood by her when she needed him and he wanted what was best for her.

I was very shocked by the ending of her choice after  all she talked about in the story it kind of lead in the opposite direction of her choice, but I’m glad she made the decision she did and can’t wait to go to the store and get Where She Went.
