Review: Last Breath by Rachel Caine

Last Breath
Author:Rachel Caine
Series: Morganville Vampires
Pages:335
Publisher: NAL
Release Date:November 1st,2011
(Goodreads\Barnes and Noble)

Summary:

With her boss preoccupied researching the Founder Houses in Morganville, student Claire Danvers is left to her own devices when she learns that three vampires have vanished without a trace. She soon discovers that the last person seen with one of the missing vampires is someone new to town-a mysterious individual named Magnus. After an uneasy encounter with Morganville's latest resident, Claire is certain Magnus isn't merely human. But is he a vampire-or something else entirely

Review:

“Welcome to Morganville,” as they say in the beginning of every book.  Caine has done it yet again. I have been underneath her “spell” ever since I started this series and I love every minute I am. I dove into this book and it took me a little more than a couple of days because I couldn’t read some days, but when I finally did I finished it all. I had a thought in the back of my mind that somehow the books would start to get boring after a while, but not at all!

In this book it starts all over again. Well not quite all over again, but if you think that the mysteries ended in book 10 you have misjudged this book. At first there’s not as much action due to the fact it was all about Eve and Michael, but when Claire started seeing things that’s when things started happening, not very good things at that.  For some reason when Claire started seeing things I was reading her thoughts—the writing—and I felt like I was going insane. It was crazy.

Speaking of dead, I really hated Michael’s great grandfather he was a mean and very stubborn pers ghost. I couldn’t stand reading him tell Claire all these things. He had no reason to really hold a grudge.
Also, I was took by surprise when Amelie had deiced she wasn’t going to run anymore. Poor Amelie, at least she finally stopped running.

Which leads me to this-- I can’t wait to see how they are going to play everything out in Black Dawn, book 12.  It’s going to be interesting to see how Oliver handles situations differently than Amelie and how people and vampires are going to react to this change in positions.

Last Breath was amazingly written and was captivating as a reader to read. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I will always be under a “Spell,” for this series. It always has something new to offer and unexpected. Read this I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Feature & Follow (Wishes edition)

Hi Guys or Gals,

This is my feature and Follow Friday and this is Hosted By Alison Can Read and Parajunkee. This weeks question is...

Q: Birthday Wishes -- Blow out the candles and imagine what character could pop out of your cake...who is it and what book are they from?

A: If I could actually do this 3 characters pop in my mind. The first one being Cricket from Lola and the boy next door. I would pick him because not only is he hot is funny and pretty intelligent too. The second one would be Maxton from The Slection from Kiera Cass because I think people get the wrong idea because he is a prince and he is really funny, friendly and caring. My third and last one would be Archer from The Hex Hall series -- he is hot, fun, dangerous, and did I mention hot.!

These are my characters I picked. What did you think of my picks? Who did you pick? Leave me a comment below.

                                               Venom by Fiona Paul
                                October 30,2012

   Summary:
Cassandra Caravello is one of Renaissance Venice’s lucky elite: with elegant gowns, sparkling jewels, her own lady’s maid, and a wealthy fiancé, she has everything a girl could desire. Yet ever since her parents’ death, Cassandra has felt trapped, alone in a city of water, where the dark and labyrinthine canals whisper of escape.

When Cass stumbles upon a murdered woman—practically in her own backyard—she’s drawn into a dangerous world of courtesans, killers, and secret societies. Soon, she finds herself falling for Falco, a mysterious artist with a mischievous grin... and a spectacular skill for trouble. Can Cassandra find the murderer, before he finds her? And will she stay true to her fiancé, or succumb to her uncontrollable feelings for Falco?

Beauty, love, romance, and mystery weave together in a stunning novel that’s as seductive and surprising as the city of Venice itself.

Why I picked this book for?
This cover makes me so curious to read this book. Before I read the summary I was already caught. When I first saw this book I immediately saw the mask and when I see a mask I don't know about you, but I thought of secrecy or some kind of ball because she has a necklace that looks kind of ..fancy.  Also on the cover I notice the little saying,"Beauty Can Be Deadly," which really led me to my first thought about a mystery. Well, This is an amazing cover! Can't wait to actually read this book if I am already caught by the cover!

Question and Answers

  Hi there,
Well, I originally had sent this to Young Bloggers United, but they stopped before posting this so I decided why not just post it on my blog. So here I am. I didn't make up these questions I had my friends pick out some random questions and I answered them. Well here we go,

Contemporary or Paranormal Ya : I love contemporary ya every once in a while , But I love to read Paranomal all the time.
Hunger Games or Maze Runner : Well, I have only read the first book in The Hunger Games so I don't think I am attached to it as much as The Maze Runner.
Hot chocolate or Iced Coffee :  Iced Coffee hands down unless it's winter than hot chocolate.
Vlogbrothers or Charlieissocoollike : Vlog Brothers of course, I'm a nerd fighter.
Facebook or Twitter : Twitter.
Coke or Rootbear : Rootbear.
The Nine Lifes of Chloe King  or Pretty Little Liars : That is really hard because I love them both, but Pretty Little Liars. I love a good mystery.
The Vampire Diaries or The Morganville Vampires series  : I love them both, but The Morganville Vampires is amazing and they still have my attention after reading the 11th book.
Softball or soccer : Softball
Halloween or Easter : It might be creepy to say, but Halloween is my favorite time to sit down with a creepy book and read.
John Green or Hank Green? I love Hank, but I have to say John, He talks about some pretty interesting stuff sometimes.
Harry Potter or Twilight? Wow seriously? That's not even a question... Harry of course.

Well that's it for this time maybe I'll do another Q and A soon. If you have any questions feel free to ask me and please leave comments below and give me your opinions on these questions.
Well until then guys\gals happy reading :)

Sophie’s bound for one hell of a ride—can she get her powers back before it’s too late?

Review:

Spell Bound huh? Yep. I honestly really wanted this book to be ..EPIC! I, being a huge fan of the Hex Hall series decided to pre-order it around my birthday in February! That was a month before it came out. Before the book arrived I started reading some reviews here and there that popped up on good reads and after reading them I became a little un sure if I wanted to read it or not. I heard that it was disappointing because it wasn’t how most people expected it to be.
Well, when I finally read it last week I was expecting it to be.. Bad-ish, but not that much actually! I mean in the beginning and some times in the middle there were times where it was kinda boring with all the information that was being shed, but still fulfilled my interest for the time being. It actually starts to get good until you get to your falling action in the plot and that was the real disappointment. Hawkins some-what builds your expectations for the ending and it was nothing that left me too excited. Ok so, yay she conquers all, but wow. Then she makes the choice of who is Sophie going to pick—Archer or Cal, not a choice. I mean in the end she ends up with who I like best, but really?
Other than the ending I found it a good way to end a trilogy, but I find it wasn’t as action packed and exciting as her other two novels in the series. I wish it would have ended differently, but sadly it didn’t. Even though I was disappointed at the end I can’t say I didn’t like this book. I did, but I just expected a little more than what was written.
Ok moving on, shedding some light onto my disappointment  one of my favorite things about this book though was that the unexpected information was introduced and who would have ever thought Sophie’s Mother was not who she appeared to be. I just have to say that in the summary you think something totally different. Not this! Also, did anyone noticed that I have went this whole    almost whole review without talking about my favorite character, besides sophie, Jenna! How I have missed Jenna. When she got to see Jenna again it brought me back to the good old days when I was reading the first novel. I really like Jenna because she always is bubbly and funny sometimes when it is needed.
If you are looking for closer of what happens to Sophie Mercer’s life, family and love life, like I did I say go for it and read this! It was somewhat epic and even the end was good-ish too even if it wasn’t what I really expected, good or bad.

Feature and Follow #3

Hi Guys or Gals,
This is my feature and Follow Friday and this is Hosted By Alison Can Read and Parajunkee. This weeks question is...

Q: If you could "unread" a book, which one would it be? Is it because you want to start over and experience it again for the first time? Or because it was THAT bad?

A:
If I could un-read a book it would prob. be ... gosh this is kind of hard. I would Un-read Anna and the french Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door. I loved these books When I read this book I read it fast and even though I had a good experience I think if I would have slowed down a bit when reading it would have been even better!

What was you Answer this week? Leave me a comment to you FF.

Waiting on Wednesday:The Prequel edition

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Breaking the SpineWaiting on wednesday is to spotlight an anticipated upcoming release.

This waiting on Wesnesday is going to be about....
Rift by Andrea Cremer.
Summary:

Sixteen-year-old Ember Morrow is promised to a group called Conatus after one of their healers saves her mother's life. Once she arrives, Ember finds joy in wielding swords, learning magic, and fighting the encroaching darkness loose in the world. She also finds herself falling in love with her mentor, the dashing, brooding, and powerful Barrow Hess. When the knights realize Eira, one of their leaders, is dabbling in dark magic, Ember and Barrow must choose whether to follow Eira into the nether realm or to pledge their lives to destroying her and her kind.
With action, adventure, magic, and tantalizing sensuality, this book is as fast-paced and breathtaking as the Nightshade novels.
I really liked the Nightshade series so I am curious enough to read the prequel.

Are you going to read the prequel to Nightshade? Or have you had enough of this series? Leave me a comment below.

June 7, 2012

Hi there again,

Hi again guys\gals,
I recently decided to change my blog design ..again. Yes, I know I change it a lot, but I just didn't find that it was working out. Speaking of not working out along with the blog design working out  I don't think my blog name was either. So with that being said I did re-name my blog and it is now called Gabby Reads. I know that changing a blog name is very hard to do seeing as people know you from the previous name, but I just couldn't find anything to match the name. When it came to finding blog designs for it  I will admit it was hard and the ones that I really liked had nothing to do with my title most of the time. Yeah, I could have paid to get a blog design done, but I don't really want to risk spending a decent amount of money when I have few followers. I think that sooner or later I will get a custom blog design, but when the time is right and when I can blog all the time. Not like I have been doing -- posting a little here and there. I want to be able to get back to reading at a somewhat fast pace and post here more frequently. Until, I break out of this, "reading fog," I call it because I want to read and I still get books, but it's like ugh I don't want to read. It's buming me out to because I do want to read, but I have to find a really good book to really pull me out of that. Like I said though until then I can't really post regularly. I honestly never know when I am going to finish a book at the moment so I don't want to chance it. On lighter news If you noticed that my header is acting crazy and I have no idea why I've pretty much tried everything to get the title in the middle and I can't figure it out so I will find a way to fix it soon. :)

Well until then,
Gabby :)  now from Gabby Reads
