Review:
*I would like to thank you Wendy for answering my questions and having you it has been fun and I can't wait to hear news(Good I hope!) on the next novel in the Sweet trilogy.
Kaiden! Kaiden! Kaiden, My head is still seriously screaming his name.
Then again, how could you forget him? Sweet Evil has been one magnificent ride (story)!
I decided to read it for the blog tour to help Wendy Higgins with getting more
publicity so they might hurry up and make the decision on weither or not they
are going to publish Sweet Hope. Which by the way, they really need to and I have
to the pleasure of telling you why!.
At first, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into when
decided to read it. Fortunately I do now and so glad I took the time. Okay so
characters. They were epic and amazing! They just kept coming each one bringing
something different to the table and filling your need to have all these
different personalities weither good, bad, strong willed, awesome heart or
pretty much any other character trait you like to see. I also really liked the
friendships. Jay and Anna have been friends for a good while and while when she
finds out she keeps it a secret, but doing it for the goodwill of her heart to
protect him since let’s face it she doesn’t even know what’s going on.
Kaiden! We are back to Kaiden?! Yes, we are because I am totally fan
girling over him at the moment. No other character this year has been able to
compare to him. He is just… Different and is okay with that. What makes Kaiden
so fun and so exciting is that at the beginning he is very mysterious. I found
myself wondering who the heck is this dude and why is he there. *Turns page and
then many more. Then, you get somewhat to the bottom of the whole situation and
the flirtiness is just ah.. Loved it. He is so sweet and while he wants to be
loyal he is trying to decide is loyalty the best choice or is choosing to love someone
worth more to him.
This plot, I really give props to her for this. She didn’t set up the
plot before writing and just wrote and the results are just amazing. I wouldn’t
change a thing because this was really a on the edge of a cliff waiting to fall
off because you want to find out what the heck happens like seriously! Towards
the end , the falling action\the resolution more specifically everything was
almost settled while there were still the little problems that where just
forming you think that it’s almost over and then BAM! Wendy hit’s you with
another freaking cliff hanger at the ending. Like this book never lacks in action, feelings
and all that dialogue and characters you love. Oh and did I forget to mention high
school to because there is a lot of high school in there, but a good drama
kind.
I cannot tell you how wonderful this book is and quite frankly I am
dying to read Sweet Hope. So I am really hoping that this blog tour creates
enough publicity to finally get a set date and publish it because I will go
insane. This was honestly one of my favorite books in 2012. So glad I bought it
too J . My review probably doesn’t do this book justice because it is
seriously just that great words can’t describe it! So if you ever get a chance
to read this book let me give you some advice TAKE IT! Most amazing
suspenseful, edge of a cliff, mysterious book you will ever read!
Author Interview:
1.)What was your inspiration for writing Sweet Evil?
There wasn’t one particular thing I can pinpoint—it was really an
accumulation of everything throughout my life: relationships, experiences, books I’ve read, my spirituality, heartbreaks...just everything.
2.) Did you base a character off of one of your friends, family
members or old classmates?
No. Anna has some traits that I had at her age, but she’s definitely
way different than me in most ways. Some of my friends have pointed out that Jay reminds them of my
brother, Frank, and I can totally see that, but it wasn’t my intention. I will say that some of
the bad male characters *might* share names with ex-boyfriends of mine...
3.) Did you start off with a plot or just wrote as the story went along?
I did not plot or outline. I had no idea what was going to happen
next. I actually wrote scenes as they came to me, so I had a bunch of scenes, out of order, and I had
to piece them together. It was crazy, lol.
4.) Who would be your favorite character in the book?
That’s like choosing a favorite child! Impossible! They all have
things that make them special to me. Anna is a sweetheart, and I love her. My heart also swells for
Kaidan, because I know his back story—I know all the things he’s been through—his weaknesses, and
the strengths he hasn’t yet embraced. *sigh* I lurve them hard.
5.) Is there a character you relate to and could be best friends?
Anna for sure. But I also really relate to Veronica. In high school I
had Anna’s heart, but my behavior was more like Veronica’s.
6.) When writing did you ever think of having Jay wanting to be more
than friends or did you always know he was meant for someone else?
Even before I knew who Jay was meant for, I knew it wasn’t Anna. I
never saw them as anything more than friends.
7.) Was there anything you thought of before you started writing Sweet
Evil that you knew you wanted to have in this book?
Hm, not really. I didn’t go into this book with a lot of forethought.
The scenes started coming to me before I even really knew what is was about. But I had a lot of
epiphanies along the way.
8.) When you started writing did you know you were going to include a
love triangle?
No. My editor wanted me to enhance the love triangle a bit, but I
still couldn’t really do it justice, because even though Anna thinks Kope is an awesome and attractive guy,
her heart is with Kai.Kope was meant to be a means for some of Kaidan’s feelings to
show—when we see him get jealous it’s a satisfying moment.
9.) In the book they take a road trip to California; have you ever
been to all the states? I found there were a lot of details to the setting. How did you accomplish that?
I’ve taken almost that exact cross-country route! (With my family, not
a hot guy.) I remember itall so vividly. While I was writing the story I did some research
about the towns they were stopping in, and the things they were seeing, to make sure I had my
facts straight, but I recall the feeling of those places very clearly.
10.) Would you like to include anything else?
I’d just like to thank you for having me, Gabby!
