Summary:
If you can grill it,
smoke it, or fry it, Nora Henderson knows all about it. She’s been
basting baby back ribs and pulling pork at her father’s barbeque joint
since she was tall enough to reach the counter. When she’s accepted to Taste Test,
a reality-television teen cooking competition, Nora can’t wait to leave
her humble hometown behind, even if it means saying good-bye to her dad
and her best friend, Billy. Once she’s on set, run-ins with her
high-society roommate and the maddeningly handsome—not to mention
talented—son of a famous chef, Christian Van Lorten, mean Nora must work
even harder to prove herself. But as mysterious accidents plague the
kitchen arena, protecting her heart from one annoyingly charming fellow
contestant in particular becomes the least of her concerns. Someone is
conducting real-life eliminations, and if Nora doesn’t figure out who,
she could be next to get chopped for good.

Guys first off look at the gorgeous cover! This cover drew me in as
soon as I saw the cover and the name. For all of you who don’t know, I am a
cooking and baking fanatic and I have no idea why, but this book was just my
cup of tea!
Norah Henderson is a girl from a small southern region who has always
had one dream – to be the best chef she can be and get into the best culinary
school in Paris. There’s only one problem, she doesn’t have the money to go to
her dream school. In order to follow her dreams she submits her application to
the Taste Test, a show in which teenagers compete for the ultimate prize – a scholarship
to the school of her dreams. Overcome with joy when she receives her acceptance
letter she packs and is off for the
journey of her life. When she first arrives at the place she will be living for
the next few months, or until she is kicked off the show, she is met with a
very un-warm welcome from Joy, a snobby, rich girl from New York, and
Christian, a too full of himself guy who just likes to test Norah’s patience.
Norah is a very nice, sweet southern girl who enters this world with no
thought of what it was going to be like and is teased by the other contestants
because of her background. However, her character is very admirable because she
is able to dish the criticism right back to the one and only Christian.
Christian is unlike any character I've encountered before. He’s so
complex it was hard to tell what he was really thinking or what he was planning
next. At first, Christian was really mean to Norah, but my first though was
that Christian was obviously a rich kid who was a jerk, but as the fighting
continued it got my head turning. I say this because always arguing tends to
lead to a crush. So, from this moment on, I was fan girling over the possibility of Norah and Christian in a relationship.
What intrigued me so much about Taste
Test was that not only was it a competition and contemporary story, it showed the
other side of the competition and the people who would do anything just to win.
The mystery aspect in this book had my mind turning in double time because all
the leads point in one direction, but actually it’s the person you would least
expect and that’s what I liked so much about this book because you just couldn't assume.
If I had to describe this book in one sentence the first thing that pops
into my head is The Selection meets
the cooking world and instead of the prince as a prize it’s a scholarship
If you are looking for a fun, light hearted book with a little competition
added to the mix, then this is the book
for you and even if you’re not you should still give this book a try because
you never know if it’s your cup of tea
till you try it.
