My Review:
Well, I heard a lot and I mean a
lot of appraise for this book and I also heard that it was being called a
mixture of The Hunger Games and The Bachelor. To be honest there is two reasons
why I was a little timid to start this book. First of all, most of the times
when books have high appraise I have expectations and then when I read them it
doesn’t live up to the hype for me and I kind of get disappointed because of
the fact I wanted it to be really good and I loved The Hunger Games, but I
guess being a teenager I never really watched The Bachelor so I was kind of
scared to start the book, but I decided hey why not let’s give it a try.
America was someone I actually
kind of got she was kind, caring and how can I say this politely uhh not
celeste, but at some points of the book I got a little disappointed and started
questioning her character. She kept asking herself questions and trying to get
herself to forget about Aspen. Who I think was a complete jerk for doing what
he did. I really wanted her to forget about him and just open her eyes and see
prince Maxton who was willing to give her (Along with 34 other girls of course)
a chance, but the way they talked to me I think that it’s not a competition
anymore prince Maxton wants her and she wants him I am so glad she actually gained
some courage along the process of this book.
Ok so, Speaking of Celeste I
couldn’t let this review go by without talking about Celeste. UGH! I hate
celeste she really is stuck up and thinks she’s everything. I mean she tried do
some evil\ rude things. Like seriously?! This really made me mad and when
Maxton didn’t believe her I really got mad. Like how can you not see through her?
As for the other girls, I mean you don’t really get to see or get to know many
of them, but I did like them. Especially Marlee, she was the nicest and a
person I would like to have as my own friend. She had this bubbly,
light-hearted personality and I loved to hear her confine in America with her
secrets about Prince Maxton.
Now, I didn’t like how some of the things in this book related to The
Hunger Games – like how they aired the whole thing on television purely for
entertainment for the people. Then again this also brings you back to The
Bachelor because the also air that on the television for entertainment.. It did
bother me a bit with all the camera crew and stuff, but it wasn’t so bad I
couldn’t bear reading it and had to put the book down. No, I actually enjoyed
reading it and didn’t want to stop.
I have to say just when I thought I could predict the ending I came across
a shocking point in the book and if you read it you might know what I am
talking about. Aspen! Even thinking about his name wants me to over-ride the
thought with Prince Maxton’s name instead. To be honest I don’t know why I don’t
like him I just… don’t. As soon as she got the palace I was team Maxton. I
guess because I watch so many fairytales and the prince always wins and the end
and gets the girl, right? Well, I really hope that in the end of the series
that this will be how it ends. Now don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong
with Aspen, but I just don’t like the idea for some odd reason.
Along from the fact that I
hated Aspen and Celeste for some odd reason I totally loved this book. Surprisingly
not what I expected at all! It kept my attention the whole day almost, for me
to finish it. All the characters were nice and I loved all of them even some of
the other selections. The maids to were so … cool and funny. America really had
a kindness that they weren’t used to and she stuck up for them and I liked
that. Up into the last moment I wanted to see what happens. By time I got to
the end I was in awe and shock and then I read down to see. “End Of Book One.” AHH I have to wait now!? Guess it’s
time to play the waiting game because I am definitely going to read and find
out what happens. Until then I will be waiting; Can't wait to see what happens.
